Tejashwi Yadav Promises ₹30,000 Annual Aid for Women to Counter NDA’s Bihar Scheme

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has announced a major counter to the ruling NDA’s welfare initiative for women. He pledged a financial support plan of ₹30,000 annual aid to women across Bihar if his party comes to power. The declaration comes just days before the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections. This signals an intensified political contest over women voters.

Tejashwi Yadav’s ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’

Tejashwi spoke at a press conference in Patna. He unveiled his proposed scheme titled “Mai Bahin Maan Yojana”. Under this scheme, women would receive ₹30,000 in financial assistance every year. The amount, he said, would be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ accounts on Makar Sankranti (January 14) next year.

“I have travelled across Bihar and met many women. They are excited about this scheme, which they believe will bring them true economic justice,” Tejashwi said, emphasizing that the initiative aims to empower women financially and strengthen their role in the state’s economy.

A Direct Challenge to NDA’s Women-Centric Scheme

The announcement is a strategic response to the NDA government’s ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’. Under this scheme, ₹10,000 has already been distributed to over one crore women in Bihar to promote self-employment.

By promising three times the financial aid, Tejashwi Yadav hopes to sway a significant segment of the electorate — women voters who have become a decisive factor in Bihar politics.

Key Promises from RJD’s Manifesto

According to the RJD’s election manifesto, the opposition alliance plans to provide:

  • ₹2,500 monthly financial support to women starting December 1.
  • ₹30,000 annual transfer under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana for the next five years.
  • A bonus of ₹300 per quintal for paddy and ₹400 for wheat to support farmers.
  • Implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
  • Job transfers for teachers, police, and healthcare staff within a 70-km radius of their home district.

Bihar Election 2025: The Road Ahead

With polling scheduled for November 6 and 11, and results to be declared on November 14, the RJD’s new women-focused promise has set the stage for a fierce electoral battle.

The NDA banks on the success of its welfare schemes. The Grand Alliance is led by Tejashwi Yadav. It is positioning itself as the voice of “economic justice and empowerment” for women. It is also advocating for farmers alike.
